I am usually against posting lyrics to a song and pass it off as an entry, but I think this one is very relevant to how I feel sometimes. In John Mayer’s new album Continuum, the song, “Stop this Train” hits the spot. John was born 1977, so his dates-age almost syncs to mine like his other song “83″ (Via thinks the song is too whiny ) Here is a video of John singing it live.
Lyrics that I think are relevant:
Don’t know how else to say it
dont wanna see my parents go
one generations length away
from findin life out on my own
Well he said it right! Don’t know how else to say it.
so scared of gettin older
im only good at being young
so i play the numbers game
i find a way to say that
life has just begun
I think I’ve used the phrase “30 is the new 20″ once or twice. Is this what he means by numbers game? and in terms of being good at being young.. well I chose a career in design which might look like play to others.
had a talk with my old man
said help me understand
he said turn 68
you’ll renegotiate
dont stop this train
dont for a minute change the place youre in
dont think i couldnt ever understand
oh, i tried my hand
John , honestly
we’ll never stop this train
My dad would have turned 68 this year… seems like he is talking to me in this stanza
Once in awhile when it’s good
it will feel like it should
and they’re all still around
and you’re still safe and sound
and you don’t miss a thing
til you cry as you’re driving
away in the dark
singing…
Stop this train
I wanna get off and go home again
cant take the speed it’s movin in
I know that i cant, cuz now i see
I’ll never stop this train
never gonna stop this train
never gonna stop this train

And Last but not the least, my good ol’ friend Pet has tied the knot with his girlfriend of 11 years, Trixie. They are now living in Seoul, Korea. It was nice to talk to them over skype. Congrats again guys. Good luck in Korea!

Cosi-cosi (our first JRT) finally gave birth. 2 puppies survived the delivery and they are still very cute and cuddly. Their birthday is on Oct 1. With a heavy heart, we are still planning to sell both of them. Cosi and Lupo are already too much to handle.
We had a very nice dinner for Mommy’s Bday last Sept 26. We had it at Galileo Enoteca over at Mandaluyong.
It was the first time Via and I went to this place. When we entered, I was immediately reminded of Italy.. Ivrea even. There was this place called Morbelli’s in Ivrea, near the river which had a similar concept. It is a wine gallery that served food. Galileo Enoteca had walls and walls of wine. And we found one of the wines we used to get from the Piemonte regio, Barbera.
We got their set meal of cheese, cold cuts, pasta and wine. Not a bad deal at Php400 a head. The cheese and cold cut platter was solid, but the pasta was typical. The ambiance and the selection of italian good made up for that. I hear that they will open a new branch near Don Bosco in Makati.

Last Sept 8, I turned 30. We were originally thinking of making some event out of it, inviting friends to a party or something. But instead we had a small celebration with family: a nice hearty buffet dinner over at Paseo Uno, Mandarin Hotel.
The next weekend, Via and I checked in the hotel, just as a break from our busy sked. The highlight of that stay was Via’s parlor appointment: “Ma’am, may bubble gum sa buhok ninyo.” Hahaha!
